VOCATIONAL NURSING (VN) PROGRAM

(a) Introduction

Trinity Vocational Center assumes the responsibility for the development of an entry-level vocational nurse practitioner who can safely perform the roles and responsibilities of a Licensed Vocational Nurse in a variety of health care settings such as acute, ambulatory, home and long-term care. In keeping with this, the school emphasizes the concept of providing quality education and training that will equip the graduate with critical thinking skills, professional attitudes and habits, technological competence, and sensitivity to health care needs of clients, physically and spiritually. Students accepted in the Vocational Nursing Program are governed by the policies and procedures of Trinity Vocational Center and regulations set forth by the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technician.

(b) Admission Requirements
    1. Must be at least 17 years of age.
    2. Proof of completion of NA Training Program.
    3. Fill up an application for admission.
    4. Must pass the VN Entrance Exam ($35-$45 fee).The Entrance Exam consists of three areas: Math, Reading, and English & Language Usage. (Transferees from other VN schools need not take Nurse Entrance Exam)
    5. High school diploma/transcript, or certificate of high school equivalency, or GED, or certificate of accreditation of courses if a foreign graduate.
    6. Submit a letter of intent to the School Director, Mrs. Zenaida Mitu, RN, MN
    7. Once you pass the Nurse Entrance Exam, schedule an interview with the School Director and submit the following documents:
      a. APPLICATION LETTER addressed to the School Director Mrs. Zenaida Mitu. Letter will briefly explain your interest and    intention to be admitted in the Vocational Nursing Program. Letter must be formally typewritten in a 12 pt. size font and double spaced.
      b. ESSAY related to Nursing as a Profession and its impact on our society must be typewritten in a 12 pt. size font, double spaced and consists of at least 1000 words.
    8. Pass drug screening
    9. Pass Criminal Background Check
    10. Negative PPD Test or Chest X-ray report
    11. Complete physical examination report

Upon completion and presentation of the above requirements, the prospective student will be notified of acceptance by mail.

In the event that there are more students than available space, the priority of admission goes to students with higher ranking in the Nurse Entrance Exam. Students who are not accepted will be placed on a waiting list.

(d) Schedule
  1. The duration of the full-time program is 51 weeks and the part-time program is 75 weeks.
  2. The full-time program is only offered one time this year. Succeeding full time program needs BVNPT approval. The part-time program is offered twice a year, in January and in July. The maximum number of students per batch is 35 students as per approval of the BVNPT.

PR 101: ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY

This course is designed to give the students basic knowledge of the composition of the body from cells to the body organization as a whole. It provides the students basic understanding of the body and their respective functions.
